Myth about Menstruation & Not been able to Participate in Pujas
Let us understand basic about
"Menstruation / Menses / Periods" - we call it by different names. It
is a Hormonal Change in a female that is the sign of her entering in an adult
phase (basically indicating the child bearing phase has started) these days
earlier.
During this time, we have
inculcated in our minds, we shouldn't go to temple, we shouldn't be a part of
any puja 🙆🏻♀... Why? Why is it considered
impure? Initially, the women were kept in a separate room, not because that
it was considered impure, but to give rest to her because it was a hard labour
in those days...
Slowly slowly myths started to
come up, her vessels started to be kept separately and so on. Somewhere down
the line it started, that she shouldn't be allowed to enter puja 🤦🏻♀
1.
There is blood loss, loss of iron
2.
Tiredness / fatigue
3.
Pain
4.
Nausea / Vomiting
But what did we guys do? We gave
it a look of religion and blindly we have been following that. However the
lady of the house has still to continue the hard work at home, going to office
at this time...
.
So, rather than asking women to
stay away from temples and any pujas / religious ceremony, we should be giving
them total rest from all work (even preparing food), which is much more harder.
The easiest thing of just sitting in a Puja and doing the work of just
listening has been stopped. Are we ready to come out of the superstitious
belief and first change our own surroundings?
If we look at other aspect, there
are so many professionals / jobs that handle impure blood everyday like
policemen (at accident sites) , mamas, mavshis, surgeons of various fields,
sisters (hospital) who may not handle only blood but also other things of the
patient... So do we dis allow them too from any religious ceremonies
After being educated, it is high
time to come out of this superstition and also take our future generations in
the right direction...
